Poinsettia

This is again a CASE card (Copy And Steal) , based on a card by Debby Hughes (Lime Doodle Design) click here to see her card.

On one half piece of the red/gold background I stamped my Poinsettia with VersaMark and put some white embossing powder on top of it. Heat embossed it and put it aside.
On a piece of white vellum I stamped and heat embossed the Poinsettia twice. I put this also aside to cool down.
In the meanwhile I cut and folded my base card and glued the background panel on top.

I took my heat embossed vellum and fussy cut the two Poinsettias. I cut the first one without the leaves and the second one I only cut the smaller leaves in the middle of the flower.
Using a stylus with a large ball, I shaped the petals a bit. I placed the flower together and on the stamped panel with foam tape so that it would maintain the shaped dimension in the petals.
I placed a gorgeous gem in the heart of the flower.

I finished the card by gluing some raindrops and placed a sticker on top with Prettige Feestdagen, which translates into Happy Holidays.

The used materials are under the image and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
It is a pity that the shine of the Perfect Pearls and Gold’s is not visible in the pictures, in real life it has a beautiful silky shine.

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge – Specially for you

DAY 1 – PLAYING WITH INK AND EMBOSSING POWDER!

Years ago I saw a card on the internet that was the inspiration for this card.
I honestly don’t know who de card made because in those days I saved things I liked on my computer, I don’t think Pinterest existed then.  And there was no name on it.

I needed a birthday card for a friend and I know she loves getting handmade cards, she makes cards as well but she never with ink. That’s why I decided to make this card.
For the background I used watercolour paper and three colours of Distress ink.
I taped my watercolour paper on to a board to minimize warping because I used quite a bit of water.
First I added water to my panel with a wide paintbrush, so the panel was lightly wet. Then I put my inks on to my craft sheet and diluted them with a mix of water and Perfect Pearls. Unfortunately you don’t see the beautiful soft shimmer of the Perfect Pearls on the photo.
With a paintbrush I made my background by starting with the darkest colour on the bottom left side and ending with the lightest colour on the top right side. Taking care that all blends nicely, I worked wet in wet so that there would be no hard lines between colours.
When the panel was finished I put it aside to dry.

In the meanwhile I stamped on a piece of copy paper the lay out I wanted with my stamp.
It’s a smaller stamp and I needed to know where I wanted to stamp and where it would be overlapping  so I could use a piece of paper or wipe of the ink on the stamp to prevent stamping on top of each other.
When the panel was dry I put it in my TH stamping tool. The copy paper, that was the same size as the panel, I put on top of the panel and adhered it with a piece of purple tape only on the top so that I made a hinge. This way I could place my stamp on the exact place on the copy paper, close my door of the stamping tool, open the door, picking up my stamp and fold the copy paper upwards.
I stamped with VersaMark, put my embossing powder over it and heat embossed the first flower branch.
Then I lay my panel back in my stamping tool, fold the copy paper again over it and place my stamp again on the paper, close the stamping tool picking up my stamp and fold the copy paper upwards. Stamped and embossed the second flower branch.
I repeated the process of stamping and embossing until my lay out was finished.

I die cut the butterfly and coloured the body of the butterfly with Chipped Sapphire.
I also used this colour to stamp my sentiment, it says “Especially for you” in Dutch.
After the ink was dry I cut it with my scissors in to a strip with a fishtail.

I adhered the panel with double sided adhesive to a folded base card.
Both the butterfly as the sentiment strip I adhered on to the panel with 1 mm. foam tape for some dimension.
And that finished the card I enjoy making this very much.

Birthday card.

It’s hard to make someone’s birthday card if you’ve been giving her handmade cards for more than 40 years. Today I made a card using Zig markers and embossing powder, something I didn’t use earlier for one of her cards. It’s easy and not time consuming, just what I needed.

I started by stamping my Asters to a piece of copy paper in the size I wanted to make my panel. By using the copy paper I can see where I want to place my stamps, which one I have to mask and most important if what I have in mind is looking good on paper.
When I was satisfied with the test panel, I stamped my flowers on some masking paper and cut them out with my scissors.

Ma 2

I used a piece of coloured cardstock for my panel, it is not something I use often but because I wanted to heat emboss the stamp with white I thought it would be nice. I used my TH stamping tool and the copy paper as guide to stamp the flowers on the place I wanted them using VersaMark ink. I didn’t stamp one of the partial flowers on the right side, as you can see on the finished card
I stamped and heat embossed the flowers one by one, letting them cool down before I stamped the next one. After the flowers I also stamped some leaves. I stamped them behind the flower on the upper right side and the one on the left,  using my masks.
When everything was cold I used my Zig marker Violet on the leaves with a hint of English Lavender.
For the flowers I used the English Lavender and a little bit of Lilac. After drying I put some extra English Lavender in the shadow areas. You can only build the colour when the first layer is dry, if the ink isn’t dry it will blend in with the first layer.

I put the panel aside and cut my white base card in to the right size and went looking for the sentiment I wanted to stamp. I used a Marianne Design sentiment,  it says congratulations in Dutch.
I stamped this with VersaMark on a piece of white cardstock, the same as my base card.
I used purple embossing powder to match with the panel colours.

I glued the panel directly on to my base card while I used for the sentiment strip, 0.5 mm. foam tape.
To finish the card I used some Marianne Design pearl butterflies ( that’s how they are cold but I think their dragonflies) and some matching open circles out of a shaker collection from Lucy’s cards.
And this is what the finished birthday card looks like.

The used materials are under the image and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

New Year New Home

End of last year whe received a card from a lovely couple of friends with New Years wishes and the announcement that they bought a house and where move to a new adres.
So I made them a New House card in New Year style.

I started with white cardstock and Distress Inks to make a night sky.
Splattered with some water and put this aside to dry.

In de meanwhile I die cut and embossed 4 houses with my Leane de Graaf Lea’bilitie Die.
The fourth house I dry embossed on the wrong site of the die so that I got a opposite house, that will be the last house in the row.
I cut from two houses the chimney, these two will be in the middle of the row and adhered the four houses with a thin strip cardstock on the backside together on a way it looks like one row of houses. Then I putted a piece of black cardstock behind the rooftops to create one roof.
By placing a light yellow piece of cardstock behind one house, the house is illuminated and refers to their new home.
To finish my panel I heat embossed some stamps in different sizes that look like firework with gold and a little bit of red embossing powder. With a gold Gell pen I made the fireworks a little more realistic.

I adhered the panel to a white cardstock base , put my row of houses on top of the panel with 0,5 mm. foam tape and number stickers for 2019.
That finished my card for their new home.

My last Christmas cards/tag

As promised my last Christmas cards, I only made a few this year and didn’t had time to post them, my healt issues made that not possible.
Underneath the photo’s there is a short description. If you specific want to know what I have used or how I have done something for a card, don’t hesitate to ask. I will always answer.

MD stempels
These four cards I made with a Marianne Design Stamp set, CS0880 Christmas Around the World.
I heat embost the stamps and fussy cut them or used a die that fits the ornament. There are no dies available for the stamp set. The ornaments that beside the text ornaments are made the same way.
The stamped text is Merry Christmas in different languages.

tag2
This tag is made with a Sizzix 658526 Labels Elise Big Die, die cut twice from different metallic cardstock.
The FindIt Trading Die ADD10069 Reindeer Ornament was die cut also twice and stuck together for dimension. I bend it some and adhere it with foamtape for more dimension. On the second tag I wrote my wishes.

These three cards ( slide show above) are made with a gorgeous Mariann Design Cutting and Embossing Die LR0445 Anja’s Circle XL.
Simply by using different colours, design papers and other decorations the cards don’t look similar..

I know these cards are a little to late for this year but perhaps you get inspired for next year.

Trouwkaart/Wedding card

No Christmas card for World Card Making day, but a Wedding card for a lovely couple their wedding day.
I love to work white on white by using different kind of papers.
For example, by this card I used a metallic white carstock, a glitter white cardstock and a cardstock  with texture. And vellum inside with a text on it (not shown).
Original the Love birds have a heart in the middle of the ribbon that they hold, I replaced that for 2 rings, which are stickers. I sticked 2 stickers (each sticker consists 2 rings) to each other so I have golden rings on the front and backside and the ribbon in between those two.
Unfortunately the embossed stamp on the bottom side of the card is not shown well in the photo.
You can find the use materials under the image.

Hartelijk Gefeliciteerd/Happy Birthday

Between colouring with mij pencils I made a card for a birthday.
Hereby I was “playing with ink”, what also is wonderful to do.
First I stamped and embossed with VersaMark and clear embossing powder.
Then I blended the background with various colours Distress Oxide and a brush.
I used the same colors on a piece of scrap, where I die cut the butterfly out.
Both on the background and the piece of scrap I applied a layer of Distress Glaze because I wanted to spray the whole with Perfect Pearls. Without Glaze the mix of water/Perfect Pearls reacts with the Oxide ink which was not my intention.
I die cut the same butterfly out of white cardstock as well as a few small butterflies.
I stuck a few little pieces of foamtape between the coloured wings and white wings of the big butterfly and adhere it on my card, just like the little butterflies.
Finally  some sequins on the card and droplets of Glossy Accent on the wings of the butterfly to finish it off.

De tijd vliegt/Time flies

You can find the English translation of the text under the image.

Nothing more enjoyable than playing with inks, this time a vintage birthday card.
On a square piece of cardstock I blended the background panel with Distress Oxides, then I sprayed a stencil light with water and placed this on my background. Left that for a few moment and lift it gently up. Any residue of water I dabbed away.
Splattered with Distress Stain Antique Bronze and Distress ink Vintage Photo.
Edited the edges with D.I Vintage Photo and then with Walnut Stain.
In the left corner I stamped a little airplane with Stazon Timber Brown.
I put some Oxides and Stain on my craft mat and sprayed some water on top. I pullet a left over piece of cardstock through the ink, dried it with my heat tool and repeated it again until I was satisfied with the result.
When this piece of cardstock was completely dry I die cut my gear border and loose cogs out of this. After die cutting I used some VeraMark and Distress Embossing powder Vintage Photo to give it a rusted/vintage look.
On a piece of brown cardstock I stamped with VersaMark my sentiment and heat embossed it with Sea Foam embossing powder. Die cut this piece and edited it with Distress Oxides.
I put the background with double sided adhesive to my card base.
I finished the card by using 3D Kit for the gear border, tag and cogs to glue them with dimension on my background.

Een dekbedovertrek in een tv reclame bracht me op het idee voor deze kaart.

die Kristina Werner gaf. Heel erg leuk om te doen en ik vind met een groots effect.
