Pop-Up Flowers

The first week of January Rina Krupsky was a guest designer by Jennifer McGuire.
When I saw the card she was making, I knew immediately that this should be the card for a friend’s birthday.
You can find the link to the post with the video under this text.
There be a few blurs on the photo’s, that’s done because of privacy reasons.

I also knew that I wanted to make the card with the Pantone Colour of the Year 2019 Living Coral.
I looked true my paper stash for paper in that colour scheme. I found it in the gorgeous background papers by Nellie Snellen.
From these paper I cut 7 pieces of 4”x 4”.
Then I used a Crealies stamp and Distress Oxide to stamp the heart of the flower. I used my TH Stamping Platform  that way I only have to position my stamp once and can stamp all the papers one after the other . Afterwards I was so glad I did this because after the first few papers where dry I noticed that I had to stamp them again to make them darker.  I even put some Distress Oxide in the middle of the heart with a small brush to darken it. I then put the papers aside to dry well.

I couldn’t find any stamp that would fit what I had in mind, so I made them myself.
I used Eva foam, a thin craft foam,  a die and double sided adhesive sheets. I adhere a piece of adhesive sheet on one side of the foam, then I die cut it on the other side .
I removed the other layer of  protective sheet from the foam so I could stick the die cut on to a piece of acetate. By trying the stamp I noticed that the foam was much too thin.
I decided to cut two new layers, the same way I did before ( two layers at once won’t work). I cleaned the foam stamp that I already tried out with a baby wipe. Which was easy because I used Distress Ink.
I then adhered both layers on top of the first one and my new stamp was ready.
Because I also like to have a opposite stamp, I repeated the process as before with the difference that I now had the side where I put the adhesive sheet on the foam at the upper side when I die cut.
To stamp you can adhere your acetate to a acrylic block with some painters tape.
After you used the stamp, you can clean it and use it again later. Always try before you use it with another colour if the stamp is really clean.

I started my front panel ( 3.9 “x 5.6”) with white Neenah cardstock, a Joy Crafts stencil and Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral. I put the stencil down on the paper in different angles with space in between, because I didn’t want a full background. The Oxide gave a soft look so I could stamp over it with my home made stamps and Distress Ink Abandoned Coral, what is a more bright ink but the same colour.
Used a Marianne Design stamp for the Sentiment, it’s Dutch for Have a nice day.
Put  this a side to dry.

In the mean while I cut a base card (folded 4.1 “x 5.8”) from Turquoise glossy cardstock on the outside and white on the inside. I used the same Joy Craft stencil inside but this time with Distress Oxide Peacock Feathers.
Stamp the sentiment in the upper corner, this is Dutch for Congratulations.
Put this also aside.

Time to make the flower bouquet, I folded, cut and glued the square papers I made before, as shown in the video by Rina.
And glued the bouquet into the inside of the base card.

Glued the front panel to to base card and finishing the card off with pearls and sequins in a matching tint. And that completed the card.

But I was enjoying myself so much I wanted to make more. So I decided to stencil also the envelop to match the card. I did this with the Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral and after drying I put some Distress Glaze over it to seal the ink. I don’t want rain to ruin my envelope and so I know that will not happen now.

Used materials are under the picture.

New Year New Home

End of last year whe received a card from a lovely couple of friends with New Years wishes and the announcement that they bought a house and where move to a new adres.
So I made them a New House card in New Year style.

I started with white cardstock and Distress Inks to make a night sky.
Splattered with some water and put this aside to dry.

In de meanwhile I die cut and embossed 4 houses with my Leane de Graaf Lea’bilitie Die.
The fourth house I dry embossed on the wrong site of the die so that I got a opposite house, that will be the last house in the row.
I cut from two houses the chimney, these two will be in the middle of the row and adhered the four houses with a thin strip cardstock on the backside together on a way it looks like one row of houses. Then I putted a piece of black cardstock behind the rooftops to create one roof.
By placing a light yellow piece of cardstock behind one house, the house is illuminated and refers to their new home.
To finish my panel I heat embossed some stamps in different sizes that look like firework with gold and a little bit of red embossing powder. With a gold Gell pen I made the fireworks a little more realistic.

I adhered the panel to a white cardstock base , put my row of houses on top of the panel with 0,5 mm. foam tape and number stickers for 2019.
That finished my card for their new home.

The 30 Day Coloring Challenge

challenge_graphic_nov_18_16x24
I am participating in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge that was started on 1 November.
This is not my first time and I am enjoying it everytime. I will tell you in a nutshell the concept of this,  it’s all about a little “me-time” everyday. 10/15 minutes a day for yourself and your hobby, to calm, relax and enjoy. There is nothing that you must, everything is good. You can all read it on the blog of The Daily Marker, hereby the link to the page where you can read all about it:
https://www.thedailymarker.com/2018/10/the-30-day-coloring-challenge-is-bacckkkk/

I don’t colour a image a day, sometimes I will post a part of a coloured image, a finished one or even the whole card when it’s finished. So I will not post everyday but I always read and comment on the daily blogpost at the Daily Marker site.
I thought this was a good moment to start making my Christmas cards.
Previously I made a whole pile of cards for everyone I sent a card, but nowadays I only make them for those I know they appreciate a handmade card and all the work that I put in it. The other ones still get a Christmas card but I buy them.
I started one, but can’t show you anything yet, the background didn’t came out as I had in mind and takes me a lot more work than I thought. So hope you all have a little patience with me and I hope to post my first Christmas card soon.
