Another CAS card.

Normally I almost never make CAS cards but this is the second one in a short time.
I didn’t had a lot of time, so what’s better than nothing, clean and simple is the answer!

I started with a panel of white cardstock, a stencil and Bundled Sage Oxide ink.
I taped the stencil with some painters tape to the cardstock and used a round blending tool to add the ink.
After removing the stencil I used the same blending tool and with a light hand I coloured over the whole panel. When that was done I finished the panel by adding ink to the edges.

Time to get my dies and Vagabond. From white cardstock I die cut and dry embost the orchids and branch.
With the petals still in the die I ink through the die opening with only Wilted Violet for the flower itself, and added also Candied Apple for the stamen.
I also die cut and dry embossed the branch from white cardstock and coloured it with Vintage Photo.
After that I did the branch back in to the die so that I could give the buds only on the embost (raised) areas some extra colour with Wilted Violet and Candied Apple.

My stencilled panel was dry and I adhered it to a slightly bigger white base card.

I then used a ball shaped embossing tool to give the petals and stamen there shape and dimension and glued them into a flower. After some shifting back and forth with the branch and flowers I was satisfied with the place where and how I would adhere them. But before I did that I stamped first my sentiment.
I already put my selected stamp on to an acrylic block and I stamped the sentiment with Wilted Violet.
The sentiment is Dutch for Have a nice day.
After that was dry I glued the branch on to the panel and with some 3D glue I adhered the flowers on top of the branch.
I finished my card by adding some violet and purple sequins.

It is a pity that the Bundled Sage coloured background appears more brown in the photo than the beautiful soft green in reality.

Birthday card with a blended Oxide background

Inspired by the awesome Distress Oxide Ink Blending Combinations series by Kristina Werner
I wanted to make a birthday card with such background.
Although all her backgrounds are awesome, I made my own combination. And that because I don’t have all the colours. First I tried some combination on several small pieces of Neenah Classic cardstock.

I was totally happy with a combination from Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple.
Gorgeous warm colours.
I cut a 6” x 6” panel from Neenah Classic cardstock and blended those three colours on this panel.
I had to let it completely dry before I could go further because I wanted to head emboss on top of this.
When the ink isn’t completely dry you embossing powder will stick on to it and comes on places where you don’t want to have it.
Because I wasn’t in a hurry, I let it air dry overnight.

The next day I stamped the SSS Ornate Background with VersaMark ink on my panel, using the Tim Holtz Stamping Tool. I was glad I did that because the background stamp is large and didn’t stamp completely in one time.
In the meanwhile that I was stamping my heat tool was already warming up.
I sprinkled my Ranger embossing powder over my ink and after tapping the excess of I melted the powder with my heat tool.

While the panel was cooling down I searched for a sentiment that would fit in to the opening I wanted to make in my panel. I found it in one of the Marianne Design stamp sets.
I stamped it on a piece of copy paper so that I could use it as a stamping guide later on.

When the panel was cooled down, I cut it smaller to 5.7 “x 5.7” so that I could place it later on to a 6 “x 6” base card.
I cut with my craft knife a opening by tracing the embossed lines of a particular part. Then I took a piece of Eva Foam, cut it a little smaller than my panel  placed it temporarily behind the panel and traced with a pencil the opening. I removed the panel from the foam and cut the opening out of the foam by following the pencil lines. I put this a side.

I took my base card and placed it in my Stamping Tool. I took the copy paper with the text I stamped earlier and placed this on top of my base card as a guide. Then I placed my panel over it and moved the copy paper until the text was visible in the opening. When I was satisfied I removed the panel, placed my stamp on top of the copy paper and closed my tool so my door could pick up the stamp on the right place.
I removed the copy paper, inked the top line of the text with Fossilized Amber and stamped it, the second line I stamped with Spiced Marmalade and the last line with Candied Apple. I put it aside to dry.

I glued the Eva Foam  behind the panel and let this also dry.

In the meanwhile I die cut and embossed two butterflies from the small piece of cardstock on which I had tried out my colour combination.

Time to put the card together.
I glued the panel with the Eva Foam on top of my base card.
With foam tape I adhered my butterflies on top of the card, I fussy cut for both of the butterflies antenna and glued them on the right place.
I used for a little bit of sparkle on the butterflies my Nuvo Shimmer pen and that finishes my card.
