World Card Making Day

The 5th of October was World Card Making Day and here I quote the SSS blog post*;
World Card Making Day was created in 2006, and the original purpose was to kick-start the holiday card making season.” And so I did, I made my first Christmas card of this year. I used a challenge sketch from the WCMD challenge blog post by Sandy Alnock.

I stamped a Christmas image from Find It Trading. I coloured the image in with my Zig markers and the Zig blender. I used the blender instead of water because I stamped my image on Canson Bristol paper and I think this paper blends not as smooth with water than the Strathmore Bristol.

When the colouring was finished I put the image aside to dry well and in the meanwhile I cut the different pieces of cardstock and patterned paper in to the right size. The paper is from the same collection as the stamped image. Although the collection is from a few years ago it still is gorgeous.

For my base card I used a dark blue cardstock as well as for the little strip where I put the sentiment on. The sentiment is a Dutch text sticker and it says Happy Holidays.
I glued the patterned papers on top of the small red cardstock rectangles and the larger piece for the image panel. For my image panel I used foam tape to put it on top of that.

First I glued the rectangles of red cardstock/patterned papers on the base card and then on top of them the stacked panel with the image.
And to finish my first Christmas card  I put my sentiment strip on top of the panel with foam tape.
I love how the card turns out, this is also a great way to use your leftover pieces of cardstock or patterned paper.

The used materials are under the image and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
