Day 6 of The 30 Day Coloring Challenge – Just playing.

I had a card in mind with one of my awesome Power Poppy digi’s.
And  if you hurry you can get these and other stamps
(clear and digital) on a massive sale right now!! https://powerpoppy.com/
For the card I printed the image on to Neenah cardstock several times.
Unfortunately what I wanted didn’t work. So the image was on my table and that was it.

Later in the week I was far behind reading blog posts and YouTube video that goes along with them, so I put my headphone on and read and watched. My daughter popped in and put several alcohol markers on my desk telling me she needed them again later but they were in her way.
Left from me the tulip image was laying on my desk and right some markers, that’s 1 + 1 for my brain.
I decided to play a little with two blue markers.
I loved how the image came out and wanted to go a step further, I outlined the image with a gold gel pen.
Finished I thought I’d done an awesome job, if you may say that from yourself LOL.

My first intention (earlier that week) was to print and heat emboss the tulip, but that didn’t work.
This was about the same look, although the lines are not as bold but I like this even more.

When finished I also knew immediately what I wanted to do with it.
I have a die that cuts 9 tiles and I thought this would be great with this image.
I taped my die on to the panel, first stamped the sentiment and then ran it through my Vagabond.

I let the pieces sit in the die, turned it around and put 1 mm. foam tape on every piece.
Turned it with the image right side up and placed it on slightly bigger blue metallic cardstock panel, with a little pressure I tipped the image pieces out of the die and adhered them in the same time.
I adhered the blue panel to a white base card.
And that’s how I finished my card that started by just playing with something that was on my desk.
I hope you enjoy the card as much as I did making  it.

The used materials are under the image and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. The photo doesn’t do justice to the card, because of the blue metallic cardstock it was hard to make a good photo.

Day 29 – Hello Gorgeous

I loved this stunning IO stamp set from the first time I saw it and thanks to the outstanding video(s) from Sandy Allnock I have coloured the giraffe with cheap alcohol markers and it really looks like a giraffe.
Oké, a special one that’s true because this is a giraffe with a scarf, LOL.
Also a big thanks to Heidi, https://www.makeyourlifecolourful.com/, for sending me the great SN acohol marker proof ink pad.

I first stamped the scarf and then masked that off with masking paper to stamp the giraffe. I also extended the giraffe on the bottom, like Sandy did in her video, with a black artist marker.

Because the colours Sandy has used go together so well I decided to keep the same colour palette.
Then the colouring started and I noticed very quickly that I had to do it in smaller parts otherwise the markers wouldn’t blend very well. I have to say that while using them the flow of the ink went better and also the blending. It’s by far not perfect because I hardly use the markers, so I don’t know them well but it was fun to use them.
If you don’t know Sandy Alnock and her great art, you would be very surprised to read that my shadow colour was a purple hue. She uses that often and I must say, scary as it was, it is great shadowing with purple!

Giraffe met tools
When the colouring of the giraffe was finished I noticed that my colours bled beyond the stamping lines.
I know that you can use a colourless blender to fix that but it didn’t work here. So I decided that I would colour the scarf first and then I would fussy cut my giraffe.
Because the tufts on top of his head are difficult to cut out proper I will cut them off and stamp them on the panel first before I adhere the cut out giraffe on it.
The few fringes that hang outside the image I will draw by hand.

This is going to be the front of a pop up card, so in a later post you can see the finishing of the front and the inside. Stay safe and happy colouring!

The used materials are under the image and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.

30 Day Coloring Challenge- Day 1

You can find the English translation of the text under the image.
Tulpen dag 1
The first day of the challenge Kathy started by colouring a printed image on copy paper, and using cheaper markers then Copics. I watched the video and took also a piece of copy paper and printed an image. I have markers that cost almost nothing so I thought I would give them a try like you did. The paper is to thin I think, blending didn’t work, but it was a good experiment and I enjoyed the colouring despite that it didn’t work.
Thanks for today and looking forward to tomorrow. After I post above I went through with experimenting and used first my Zig CC brushes, that was quiet wet and I was scared that my printing lines would bleed, they came a little darker but I saw that write on time and stopped to go over theme.
Then I used my daughter’s old markers for kids and they worked with the yellow better than the alcohol markers but with the orange you don’t see the darker shade, probably I better had used a red one for the shading.
Well this was the first day and I had a lot of fun!

Kerstmuizen
